(1-2 test methods, box test)
Products from MASCOT certified according to EN 61482-2 protect the wearer from brief exposure to electric arcs.
EN 61482-2 is the standard for safety clothing that is used in situations where there is a danger of exposure to electric arcs. EN 61482 comprises two testing methods, where MASCOT’s products are tested in accordance with method 2 – the box test. Safety clothing certified according to EN 61482-2 is therefore tested against a direct electric arc on a limited area. Test method 2 does not include protection against electric shock. EN 61482-2 certified safety clothing tested according to testing method 2 can be split into two classes, where class 2 provides the best protection.
It is important to underline that safety apparel certified according to EN 61482-2 is only certified and tested in relation to the box test. This means that the products are not certified for the user to remain in a high-hazard area for a longer period of time. EN 61482-2 certification according to test method 2 only tests safety clothing according to the box method on the front of the clothing and only for a limited time.
MASCOT’s products that are certified according to this standard are solely tested with test method 2. This means that the safety apparel is only suitable for brief exposure to electric arcs on a limited area of the clothing.
This standard replaces the previous ENV 50354.
